Whats best to wear for dance classes?

For technique to be addressed correctly by teachers, all dancers should be clothing to do so.  Dancers in our little jiggers and school aged classes should wear shorts (above the knee) and t-shirt to class.  Adult dancers should wear comfortable active/gym wear.  We recommend socks and sneakers fo the first term.  Hair to be tied up & off the face and neck.

What should we bring to dance classes?

All dancers should have a labeled drink bottle and in the hotter terms we recommend a sweat towel.  As junior dancers progress they should bring their folder with their beginner steps printed out and placed into.

Do we need the uniform?

For dancers in our little jiggers and school age classes, the uniform is compulsory from your second enrolled term.  All dancers new to the Academy receive a t-shirt with their registration that they should wear to each class.  Purchase of shorts and other uniform can be organised through the office.  The uniform is not compulsory for our adult dancers, unless they are or have moved into the competition based classes.

During the year, what do we work towards?

All classes work towards the TIDA of NZ and the An Coimisun Le Rinci Gaelacha syllabus.  Dancers have the opportunity to participate in their first year in  local dance to the music events and at the end of year a class competition.  We also partake in grade exams and our biannual show (which is this year in December)

Who can watch the classes?

Our little jigger classes are open to family to watch.  We do ask if you have siblings that may wish to play or run around, that our foyers are utilised.  For the first term, our beginners classes parents have the option to stay and watch.  After this term our classes are closed to spectators.

Can I just show up to try a class?

So we can plan our lessons accordingly, we ask that all interested dancers click on our REGISTER NOW link to schedule a trial class or CONTACT US to organise.
